Coed Varsity Cross Country · Track is over, now what?!?

As track winds down for different people at different times, read below for guidelines for getting back in to running in preparation for summer training for XC!

  1. All athletes will take of 10-14 days – this means NO RUNNING! You are welcome to cross train if you would like but I would encourage at least 6 days of nothing. We have been training consistently since April of last year and some rest will do your body and mind well.
  2. Once your rest time is up you should start back to running
    1. Easy runs of anywhere from 15-45 minutes are good
      1. Start small and easy. Don’t worry about pace/distance covered the first couple weeks. Just get out and get time on your feet.
    2. Do strides after your run 3-4 times a week
    3. Work to make Monday your longest run of the week since that is long run day
  3. Be on the lookout for more info on our 2021 XC Info Meeting – first week in May! I will have full summer training plans ready for you at the meeting!
