Despite seeing its seven-run lead whittled down by the end, the Hillgrove Hawks still held off North Cobb for a 7-6 victory on Monday. North Cobb scored six runs in the failed comeback on a single by Gavin Smith in the fifth, a error in the sixth, a double by Andrew Prather in the sixth, and a double by Smith in the sixth.
Mason Curtis led Hillgrove to victory on the mound. He went four innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out seven and walking one. Alex McKay and Brennan Richardson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. McKay recorded the last six outs to earn the save for the Hawks.
Hillgrove had seven hits in the game. Justin Tew and Ethan Wright all managed multiple hits for Hillgrove. Tew went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Hawks in hits.
