The Hillgrove Hawks snagged a late lead and defeated Kennesaw Mountain 4-3 on Wednesday. The game was tied at three with Hillgrove batting in the top of the seventh when Mason Curtis singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the sixth inning, the Hawks tied things up at three. Cameron Fiveash drove in two when he singled. The Hawks notched three runs in the sixth inning. Zach Stewart and Fiveash powered the big inning with RBIs.
Alex McKay led Hillgrove to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered zero runs on zero hits over one and one-third innings, striking out two and walking zero. Brennan Richardson and Fred Wilson entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Hillgrove totaled eight hits in the game. Ethan Wright, Reid Brown, and Curtis all managed multiple hits for the Hawks.
